She is startled by the ringing of the phone, but when she answers it, all that can be heard is the sound of raw chicken being destroyed in the garbage disposal, which is shot through the phone into her face. The house is on fire and everything is a complete mess. When she gets in, the light switch does not work and the walls are covered in strange drawings. He argues with her for a while, and then she heads inside. When Nicole gets home from work the next day, Richard is sitting in a lawn chair in the front yard, still on strike he has placed a banner and balloons behind him which say "Happy Birthday," but which he reveals are for the purpose of protesting Nicole's underappreciation. Nevertheless, Nicole is outraged because of how different Richard's parenting style is, so Richard goes on strike out of anger. ![]() The episode then cuts to a montage of Richard’s unconventional parenting, which despite being extremely nonsensical seems to be very productive. The next day, the kids help Richard gain the courage to talk to Nicole. Anais sets up a pumpkin on a stool outside, illustrated to her mom’s likeness. The kids continue to encourage Richard to talk to Nicole to prepare for the conversation, Richard tries to give an inspirational speech, but ends up just blending numerous idioms and expressions together nonsensically. In a twist of situational irony, the episode cuts to shot of Nicole celebrating her award with loud and obnoxious fireworks which harass the citizens below and the Moon above. Gumball tries to cheer him up, and Anais recommends that he talk to Nicole about his feelings, since she will surely be rational. Richard complains about not being appreciated. However, Anais reminds him otherwise, pointing to the framed newspaper article titled "Local Loser Ruins Baby Shower," Nicole then begins dialing numbers on the phone, causing Darwin to become excited and ask if they are ordering pizza she denies this and instead states that she is calling everyone in the phone book to brag about her accomplishment. ![]() This causes Richard to be upset, complaining about how he does not have a photo of himself hanging in the house. She comes home, informing her family that she got a pay raise of "three cents on the dollar."Īfter bragging a bit about her misspelled "Employee of the Month" plaque, Nicole tears down the family portrait to put the plaque in its place. After speaking with him, Nicole busts down the door and starts a rap number announcing that she has been awarded employee of the month.
